Nigeria’s Super Eagles confirmed their place in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 Round of 16 with a dramatic 3–2 win over Tunisia in a thrilling Group C match at the Complexe Sportif de Fès on Saturday night.
After a tight opening group stage, the Super Eagles and Tunisia went head‑to‑head in a high‑stakes clash, both teams having won their first matches. Nigeria started strong, with Victor Osimhen breaking his goal drought and giving the Super Eagles the lead. Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi then doubled the advantage early in the second half, showcasing Nigeria’s attacking intent.
The third goal came from Ademola Lookman, who capped a brilliant team move and further boosted Nigeria’s lead, putting them in a commanding position.
Tunisia, however, refused to go quietly. They pulled one back through a well‑taken effort deep into the second half and continued to press, keeping fans on edge. But Nigeria held firm to secure the victory and book their place in the tournament’s group stage.
The win keeps Nigeria at the top of Group C, maintaining momentum after their opening 2–1 triumph over Tanzania. With six points from two games, the Super Eagles are firmly in control of their AFCON destiny as they prepare for the last group stage match against Uganda.
The victory also highlights the team’s resilience and attacking depth, with key contributions from both established stars and rising talents on a big stage in Morocco. The Super Eagles now turn their focus to their next challenge, confident of making a deep run in the 2025 AFCON.
