Paris Saint-Germain are Ligue 1 champions yet again after Lionel Messi’s stunning goal saw them win their tenth league title.
The former Barcelona star reminded everyone what he is all about, having won the LaLiga title on ten occasions during his glittering career at Camp Nou.
But it was a bizarre night at the Parc des Princes where Mauricio Pochettino was booed by his own fans and large sections of the support left the stadium in protest. PSG could only muster a 1-1 draw against 10-man Lens but it was enough to win the title.
With four matches to go in Ligue 1, the French giants have wrestled back the trophy from Lille, though there was little doubt that they would clinch the title. It was also the first piece of silverware that Messi has won since moving to the club last summer, and he had a huge say over the proceedings.
It was the Argentine’s strike against Lens in the second-half that set PSG on their way and he did so in style. Kylian Mbappe popped the ball off to Neymar who stroked it to his old Barcelona buddy.
From outside the box, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner rocketed his shot past the Lens goalkeeper – who had no chance. It sparked some major celebrations from the forward, something that might not have been seen enough during his first season in France.
The Argentine wizard has played 22 ligue-1 games with the “Parisians” which is equivalent to 1792 minutes, in which he scored 4 goals and provided 13 assists, thus far in the 2021-22 season.
