Lionel Messi has bid farewell to Paris Saint-Germain in a brief statement following the club’s confirmation of his departure at the end of the season.
Messi, who joined PSG on a free transfer from Barcelona in 2021, played a key role in securing two consecutive French Ligue 1 titles for the team.
During his time at PSG, the Argentine World Cup winner scored 32 goals in 74 games.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the club, the city of Paris, and its people for the past two years,” Messi conveyed through PSG’s official website.
He further added in a separate interview, “I am delighted to have represented PSG—I thoroughly enjoyed playing alongside such talented teammates. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the club for providing me with a fantastic experience in Paris.”
Rumors surrounding Messi’s future include a potential return to Barcelona, a move to the MLS, or even joining the Saudi Pro League.
