The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the appointment of Togolese football icon, Emmanuel Adebayor, as one of its ambassadors.
The announcement was made on Monday by CAF through its X handle.
Adebayor joined a distinguished list of signatories that includes Senegal’s El Hadji Diouf, Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan, Egypt’s Ahmed Hassan, and Nigeria’s Augustine ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha.
According to CAF, their collective role will be pivotal in promoting African football through various activities, including tournaments, charitable initiatives, commercial endeavors, and social events.
Adebayor’s inclusion in this prestigious program underscores his expertise and influence within African football circles.
As the former captain of the Togo national team, Adebayor has etched an indelible mark on the football landscape of his country.
In 2006, he led his country, Togo to their historic qualification for the FIFA World Cup.
Also, during the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON final, the winner’s trophy, was brought on by Adebayor.
