Afrobeats star, Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has stirred conversations across social media after revealing his intention to contest for the presidency of an African country in the future.

In a video shared via his Snapchat account, he explained that he has been reflecting on taking up a leadership role and believes he possesses the vision to move a nation forward.

“I have been thinking about it. I think it’s time to share it with you guys. Some of you might be from some country, specifically in Africa, and you are looking for a president, a president who is not looking for money and power but forward thinking, young, active and can move your country better. So, I’m officially putting myself forward for the presidency,” Mr Eazi said in the clip.

Although the singer did not mention a specific country where he intends to run, his statement has stirred excitement and mixed reactions across social media platforms, with many fans expressing curiosity about his political ambitions.

The announcement, however, has generated widespread conversation, with many recalling the artist’s 2018 satirical music video, Keys to the City (Ogede), where he humorously ran for president of a fictional state, Ogede, as a commentary on African politics.

While his latest declaration remains an expression of intent, it marks the first time the Nigerian-born artist has openly spoken about a possible political future beyond his music and business ventures.
