Another minister in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed plans to throw his hat in the ring for the 2023 presidential elections.
While addressing a group of his supporters in Anambra State on Saturday, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige hinted that he will officially declare his presidential bid very soon.
Ngige, who is a former governor of Anambra State, noted that his decision to run for the nation’s top job was birthed after he communicated with God.
“I want to assure you that the period of lent, we ended it last night. And during this period, we communed with God; we did our fasting; we talked to God and the angels and God spoke back to us. God has spoken to me,” he said.
The minister added that he will heed to the calls of his supporters and ‘speak to them in the language they will understand’ either Tuesday or Wednesday before he returns back to Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Ngige’s unofficial declaration comes weeks after the Minister of Transportation and former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi announced that he will be contesting the presidency in the 2023 general election. Interestingly, the duo both served as state governors under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
