Amidst growing tensions between an Islamic group and traditionalists in Ilorin, Kwara State, the International Council for Ifa Religion (ICIR) is preparing to hold the 2023 edition of the World Isese Day themed “Let’s celebrate Olodumare” on August 20th in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The Isese festival, a Yoruba tradition celebrated by adherents of the Yoruba traditional religion in several countries has faced opposition from the Majlisu Shabab li Ulamahu Society, who warned against its celebration in five local government areas of Ilorin.
The group emphasized Kwara State’s support for Islamic activities while making peaceful yet implicit threats to prevent the Isese festival from taking place.
