Founder of Wellbeing Foundation, Mrs Toyin Saraki has advocated for youth education and empowerment so as to grant them the opportunity to thrive and transform the country.
This was disclosed on her speech at the pre-departure of the 2017 Mandela Washington Fellowship on Monday, May 8th.
The event was organised by the United States Embassy in Abuja.
She said, “Let us empower, educate our youth so that they can truly survive, thrive and transform. Let us all declare to value humanity and take up the challenge of educating our youth comprehensively and holistically.
“Let Youth Learn, and let Youth Lead, even if it isn’t the easiest thing to do.”
The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders which started in 2014 is the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) that empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training, and networking.
For this year’s edition, the Fellowship has penned up to 1,000 outstanding young leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa with the opportunity to hone their skills at a U.S. college or university with support for professional development after they return home.
