In a remarkable gesture celebrating academic excellence and hard work, two outstanding graduates of the Nigerian Law School were awarded a combined cash prize of N8 million by Deji Adeyanju and Partners law firm on Friday.
Mr. Oluwabusayo Ifonlaja, Esq., who emerged as the overall best graduating student at the 2025 Call to Bar Ceremony after securing an unprecedented 18 academic awards, received a N5 million cash prize.
Also honoured was Miss Maryam Abiodun Lawal, Esq., the second-best graduating student and best graduating female student, who earned 8 prestigious academic awards. She was awarded N3 million for her outstanding performance.
The awards were presented during a courtesy visit by both legal scholars to the firm’s office earlier today.
In a statement issued by the firm’s principal partner, Deji Adeyanju, the gesture was described as a way to recognize and encourage excellence in legal education and inspire upcoming lawyers.
“Their extraordinary achievements stand as a testament to the power of diligence, discipline, and determination. These awards are not just rewards but a symbol of aspiration for future lawyers,” Adeyanju said.
The recognition adds to the growing celebration surrounding this year’s Nigerian Law School graduates, with legal and academic circles applauding the achievements of young lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional brilliance and commitment to the profession.
