LAUTECH VC threatens student shot by police for joining #ENDSARS protest
For Damilare Gbohumi Aduragbemi, a 500 level Computer Engineering student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, his life is not the only thing he is battling at the moment after being shot by the police. He is also on the verge of losing his studentship. He was shot during a peaceful protest clamouring for the disbandment of the notorious Special Anti-Robbery Squad in what is now globally known as the #ENDSARS protest. Damilare was shot earlier today in Ogbomosho, a major town in Oyo state.
In a shocking twist however, the victim who was rushed to the hospital where he is recuperating got a surprise visit from the Vice Chancellor of LAUTECH who rather than show compassion over the fate of the student went on to threaten him with an expulsion for protesting.
“I am at the hospital now and I am being intimidated and threatened of my studentship “, Damilare disclosed. He further revealed that the VC came in company of the Police and some University staff to interrogate him.
Before he was shot, the victim had earlier shared videos on Twitter of Ogbomosho policemen shooting at protesters. He later tweeted that he has been hit by a policeman’s gun.
“I’m dying police just shot me”, Damilare tweeted.
He later revealed that the Vice Chancellor, Professor Michael Ologunde was threatening him with expulsion for daring to join the. protesters.
Online activists, celebrities and advocates however appear to have taken on his matter by reaching out to the Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, the Nigerian Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Sunday Dare who ironically is from Ogbomosho and other stakeholders within the police force.
