Clinical psychologist and storyteller, Lateefat Odunuga is set to present her new project ‘Abiyamo’ before an audience at the New York University.
The former lecturer at the Lagos State University is engaging the use of the Yoruba culture into artistic storytelling to discuss postpartum depression. ‘Abiyamo’ is bringing African styled storytelling tradition and creative expression to influence maternal healthcare.
The presentation will be premiering at the National Organization for Arts in Health Conference (NOAHCON 25) in November at the NYU Kimmel Centre.
According to Lateefat Odunuga in an exclusive chat with BlackBox Nigeria, the production is a two edged presentation aimed at achieving positive narrative towards maternal health discussion as well as promotion of African storytelling styles and her talents.
She further disclosed that she targets to take Abiyamo across the United States and other countries of the world.
The production is in collaboration with Artwqx Communications and Footprints of David Arts.
