Late President Buhari’s Agric Minister, Audu Ogbeh is dead

Chief Audu Ogbeh, former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, has passed away at the age of 78, BlackBox Nigeria has learnt.

He died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, August 9, 2025, according to a statement from his family.

Born on July 28, 1947, in Otukpo, Benue State, Ogbeh had a distinguished career in Nigerian politics.

He served as Minister of Agriculture from 2015 to 2019 under President Muhammadu Buhari, where he implemented significant reforms to boost local food production and reduce import dependency.

BBN360 further learnt that earlier in his career, Ogbeh was appointed Federal Minister of Communications from 1982 to 1983 during the Shehu Shagari administration.

He also held the position of National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 2001 to 2005.

The family described him as a man who “departed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, service, and dedication to our nation and community.”

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.

The nation mourns the loss of a statesman who dedicated his life to public service and the betterment of Nigeria.
