LASWA Ferries Super Eagles To Victory

General Manager of Lagos State Waterways, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel has scored LASWA high for safely transporting the Super Eagles.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles team traveled by sea to Port Novo for their African Cup Of Nations qualifier match against their counterpart the squirrels of Benin Republic on Friday.

The game which took place on Saturday, 27th March 2021 at Stade Charles de Gaulle, Porto-Novo turned in favour of the Eagles with a lone goal victory over the Squirrels.

This is the first sea travel by the Nigerian team since 1949 when the team traveled by sea to England on a playing tour.

Recall the team was ferried last Friday by the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) from the Five Cowries Terminal in Falomo Ikoyi via the Lagos inland waterways to Port Novo in Benin Republic.

The players had expressed delights and satisfaction at the choice of water transport as it affords them a great deal of convenience, comfort, and hospitality ahead of their game.

Their waterways enjoyment was evident with the late strike from Paul Onuachu which earned Nigeria bragging rights over Benin Republic as Super Eagles defeated Squirrels 1-0

The victory implies that the Eagles ended Benin’s eight-year unbeaten home record, which dated back to 2013.

The Super Eagles for their various matches either traveled by Road or by Air but this time they had to go through the Ocean for the Water to wash them clean to Victory.

Eight years down the lane, the Benoinise never lost any game to Super Eagles but with the use of waterways, the tides changed in Favor of the Nigerian team.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles’ choice of a safe water transport offered by the Lagos State Waterways Authority LASWA is widely believed to have aided their victory.

Available video clips and online images of the players having fun while on the waterways attest to the level of flexibility, hospitality, and comfortability derived from the Boat Cruise.

Aided by the Lagos waterways, The Eagle has finally picked up the Squirrel.

It’s noteworthy that Lagos water transport sector is currently thriving with an increasing ridership of over 1.2 million passengers recorded along several routes monthly, Lagos Waterways remains a cash cow of investment opportunities.
