The Management of Lagos State University of Science and Technology has shut down its Secondary school over the death of one of its students.
In a letter addressed to the general public and confirmed by the school Public Relations Officer, Dr. Olanrewaju Kuye, the decision to shut down the school over the death of 16-year old boy, Dauda Abdulrahmon who was knocked down by a vehicle outside the school premises.
Also the closure lasts with no resumption date,the students will be engaged in online learning as the management seeks to restructure and reposition the school.
Meanwhile, the late Abdulrahmon met his untimely death a few days after he allegedly gave his asthmatic colleague in school a chemical composition which made the latter pass out during the birthday celebration of one of his SS2 classmates at the Chemistry Laboratory.
According to the school management, Abdulrahmon’s parents were summoned to a meeting with the Principal over the incident.
Their failure to show up led to the dismissal of Abdulrahmon from class three days after, with the Principal alleged to be bent on punishing him.
In his attempt to escape punishment, he absconded the principal’s office, bursting out of the school gate, and was unfortunately killed by an oncoming vehicle.
