In preparation for the upcoming 2024/2025 academic session, three prominent Lagos universities; Lagos State University (LASU), Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), and the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have released their official academic calendars, outlining key activities and dates for students and faculty members.
Lagos State University (LASU)
According to a circular from the Directorate of Senate and Academic Affairs, LASU has approved the academic calendar for the 2024/2025 session, following the Vice Chancellor’s ratification of recommendations by the Committee of Provost, Deans, and Directors (COPDD).
The first semester will commence on Monday, 18th November 2024, with 11 weeks of registration and lectures. Late registration, subject to a penalty of N5,000, will be held between 3rd and 7th February 2025. The semester’s examinations are scheduled to begin on 10th February 2025 and conclude on 7th March 2025, followed by grading and result processing.
The second semester will start on 21st April 2025, featuring 12 weeks of lectures and a 4-week examination period. The semester will end in September 2025, with the session concluding after Senate considerations of final results. In total, both semesters account for 40 weeks of academic activities.
Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH)
LASUSTECH has officially released its approved academic calendar for the 2024/2025 session, catering to students across 100, 200, and 300 levels in all colleges.
For 200-level and 300-level students, the session will begin with registration from Monday, October 28, to Friday, November 8, 2024, and lectures will commence on Monday, November 4, 2024. Fresh 100-level students will also begin their registration from October 28 to December 6, 2024.
LASUSTECH will hold orientation programmes for fresh students from December 16 to December 20, 2024, followed by matriculation on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
First-semester lectures will last for 12 weeks, ending on Monday, January 17, 2025. Revision will be held from Friday, February 7, to Friday, February 21, 2025, with examinations scheduled from Monday, January 20, to Friday, January 24, 2025. A semester break will follow for students.
The second semester for 100-level and 200-level students begins with registration from Monday, February 24, to Friday, March 7, 2025. Lectures will commence on February 24, 2025, and will run for 12 weeks, concluding on May 16, 2025. Revision is set from May 19 to May 23, 2025, with exams taking place from May 26 to June 6, 2025.
For 300-level students, their second semester will coincide with the Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), running for 12 weeks from Monday, June 16, to Friday, September 5, 2025. A brief holiday will follow before the next academic session for 2025/2026 begins on Monday, September 15, 2025.
LASUSTECH students are advised to familiarize themselves with this academic calendar for a smooth academic journey throughout the session.
University of Lagos (UNILAG)
UNILAG’s academic calendar for the first semester of the 2024/2025 session commenced on Monday, 12th August 2024, with online registration for returning students. Fresh student registrations are scheduled to follow, along with the start of lectures on 28th October 2024. The first semester’s examinations will run from 24th February to 8th March 2025, with a break immediately afterward.
The second semester begins on 31st March 2025, leading to 14 weeks of lectures and concluding with final examinations by August 2025. Notably, the university’s convocation ceremonies are scheduled between 13th and 16th January 2025, a key event in the institution’s calendar.
