Lagos State University (LASU) reaffirmed its place among Nigeria’s top academic institutions as ten of its graduates emerged with First-Class honours at the 2025 Nigerian Law School Call to Bar Ceremony held in Abuja.
The remarkable performance was highlighted by Lawal Maryam Abiodun, a graduate of Common and Islamic Law from LASU, who was named the Second Overall Best Graduating Student out of 7,134 candidates and also received the award for Best Graduating Female Student, making her a standout figure at the national event.
The other First-Class achievers from LASU are: Makanjuola Mariam Amoke, Ashimi Temitope Mary, Adebowale Ayo Balikis, Adekoya Kanyinsola, Habeeb Oluwadamilola Zainab, Owodina Silifat Mojisola, Okunowo Adesewa Esther, Onyekere Favour-Divine Nzube, and Akanegbu Osinachi.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, at the ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Kareem Olatoye, congratulated the award-winning graduates, describing them as worthy ambassadors of LASU.
He encouraged current students to emulate their hard work, discipline, and dedication to academic excellence.
In her official congratulatory message, Professor Olatunji-Bello commended the students and faculty for the outstanding achievement.
“These awards are a testament to the strength of LASU’s academic training and the dedication of our students and faculty. I wholeheartedly congratulate all our legal stars and also commend the Dean and our hardworking Law lecturers for their relentless commitment to building excellent scholars and legal professionals,” she said.
She further urged all LASU Law students to remain focused and continue upholding the institution’s strong tradition of excellence in legal education.
The feat has further solidified LASU’s reputation as a centre for grooming world-class legal minds, once again placing it at the forefront of legal education in Nigeria.
