Why LASU Sacked ASUU Chairman, 14 Others
The Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Universities, Lagos State Chapter, Dr Isaac Akinloye Oyewunmi was on Thursday sacked by the institution’s Governing Council after he was found guilty of obtaining money for personal use from students of his department. He was immediately dismissed along with other lecturers also found wanting.
BlackBox Nigeria gathered that Dr Oyewunmi who holds a position of a Senior Lecturer was axed for demanding money amounting to N50,000 from each of 300Level students.
“He was found culpable of attempt to obtain money for himself as an inducement to carry out his duties, and consequently DISMISSED from the service of the University,” part of the statement issued by the institution reads.
Another academic staff, an Assistant Lecturer, Mr Olatoye Mubin Raji was found guilty of faking his O’Level certificate and was also shown the way of the institution.
The heavy hammer of the Governing Council landed on Dr Olufemi Olugbenga Soyeju, a Lecturer II staff with Faculty of Law who abandoned his duty post and also defaulted on conditions of his Training Leave bond. Apart from being dismissed from the Citadel of Learning, he was also mandated to return huge amount of N7,919,972.84 to the University Management within 30days.
