Professor Folabi Olumide, the first Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University, has died at the age of 81, after a brief illness.
His passing was announced in a statement by the University, on Friday.
“The Vice Chancellor commiserates with his family, the LASU Community, Friends and Associates on this irreplaceable loss. He prays that the Almighty God gives the Family and all, the soothing comfort to bear this great loss,” the statement partly read.
The late academic and medical surgeon was the institution’s pioneer Vice Chancellor between 1983 and 1988.
The University Management had earlier renamed the LASU Health Centre as ” Folabi Olumide Health Centre”, as a mark of honour in respect of his achievements in the University.
