LASU International School Records 95% WAEC Performance – Principal Odumbo

The Chairman, Lagos State University International School (LASUIS) Board, Prof. Ayodeji Badejo has charged all the 2020 graduands of the School to develop multi – tasking skills and be ready to use them to their best advantage.

The former Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. Badejo gave the charge at the Second (2nd) Valedictory Service of the University’s International School which was held on Thursday, 4th February, 2021, at the Aderemi Makanjuola Lecture Theatre, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.

In her opening speech, Prof. Badejo while appreciating past administrations of LASUIS Board led by the duo of Professors Rafiu Okuneye and Tunde Owolabi, thanked the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Prof. Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun, SAN, NPOM, for his fatherly love for the International School. She highly praised the University Management under the watch of the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oyedamola Oke for continuously supporting the school.

The Professor of Counseling Psychology utilised the platform to thank parents/guardians for making LASUIS a choice and also motivated the graduands as they prepare to move on in the journey of Life. Her words “…Life is in phases…I thank God for the successful completion of another session…I appreciate the past Boards led by professors Okuneye and Owolabi for laying a solid foundation at the school. I feel so happy and delighted to be here with our graduands.” she said.

The School Principal in his address, recalled that the International School officially kicked off in the month of September, 2016 and had recorded excellent achievements which include, but, not limited to; approvals from Lagos State Ministry of Education, Lagos State Education Quality Assurance; West African Examinations Council (WAEC); National Examinations Council (NECO); Excellent Performance in the 2019 WAEC Exercise with 92.5%, Excellent Performance in 2020 WAEC Exercise with 95%, Admission of all First set of SS3 students in various Universities within and outside the country.

Mr. Odumbo hoped that effort aimed at securing international approvals for the conduct of international examinations will materialise shortly.

The pioneer principal thanked Lagos State University Management, LASUIS Board Members, staff and students for their usual unflinching support and cooperation at all time. He thanked the organising committee for a well planned and coordinated event, expressed gratitude to the parents/guardians and solicited for more support from all stakeholders.

The Second Valedictory Service Lecture titled “HIGHER EDUCATION : GOALS AND FANTASIES” was delivered by Dr. Deji Oyenuga, Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, Lagos State University.

The Orientation for the graduands was handled by Mr. Babatunde Gandonu of the Faculty of Education.

Speeches were also made by the immediate past Head Boy and Head Girl, Ajomole Akinyemi and Osasuyi Olotu.

The highpoint of the event was the decoration of the new School Prefects by LASUIS Board Chairman, Prof. Ayodeji Badejo and the presentation of gifts to the graduands.

The Second (2nd) Valedictory Service of the Lagos State University International School was held in strict compliance with the COVID 19 stipulated preventive guidelines.
