The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved full accreditation for 96 percent of the programmes offered at the Lagos State University.

The university made this known in a statement on Monday, disclosed that of the 51 programmes put up for the accreditation, 49 were successful in the exercise.

The Director, Directorate of Academic Planning, Mrs. Olanrewaju Olanrewaju-John submitted the NUC report to the LASU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, and noted that the feat marked the best ever performance by a Vice Chancellor in their first year in office.

According to the NUC report, LASU’s flagship programme, Faculty of Law, received back-to-back full accreditation for all its programmes, the first ever in the univeristy.

In the same vein, the department of Nursing received full accreditation for the first time ever, while all programmes submitted in the College of Medicine also received full accreditation for the first time.

The report also shows that the Department of Pharmacology received full accreditation for its very first accreditation programme ever, as all postgraduate programmes in the Postgraduate School also received full accreditation.

All programmes in the Faculty of Management Sciences put up for assessment were also accredited, while the African Centre of Excellence for STEM Education received full accreditation, amongst others.

Reacting to the feat, the LASU VC thanked the Lagos State Government led by the governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the massive support it gave the university before and during the exercise.

Prof. Olatunji-Bello also praised members of the university management and other officials of the university for their hardwork and commitment, which made the exercise an unprecedented success.

She expressed her belief that the achievement will push the university in future university rankings, adding that her administration would ensure that 100 percent of programmes are accredited in the next exercise.
