The Lagos State University (LASU) community is once again celebrating one of its own as Oluremi Morenike Atoyebi, a proud member of the institution’s pioneer Class of 1988, has been awarded the prestigious Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).
Duke Olabode Garbadeen, a fellow member of the 1988 set, shared the news in a celebratory message, highlighting the institution’s legacy of nurturing excellence.
According to the British Gazette published on December 30, 2025, King Charles approved Atoyebi’s appointment for her outstanding contributions to education. She currently serves as the Headteacher at Osmani Primary School, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
The MBE is one of the United Kingdom’s most esteemed honours, conferred on individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service in their respective fields from education and charity to the arts and community leadership.
Atoyebi’s recognition adds to the growing list of LASU alumni making global impact.
“LASU is not just a citadel of learning, it’s a pedestal of fortunes and successes,” Garbadeen noted.
This achievement further underscores LASU’s role in producing world-class professionals and changemakers.
