The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has terminated the appointment of five of its personnel following allegations of corruption while two others were reprimanded for failing to be at their duty post.
In a statement by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, the terminated officials received letters on Friday, December 8, 2023, notifying them of the termination of their services from the state civil service.
The personnel actions were based on recommendations made by the Personnel Management Board during a meeting on Tuesday, August 19, 2023.
These recommendations were subsequently ratified by the Lagos State Civil Service Commission.
Mr. Bakara Oki Olalekan, the Acting General Manager of LASTMA, emphasized the importance of staff diligence, and warning of disciplinary measures for anyone found culpable in line with the established rules and regulations.
He urged the public to share their experiences, both positive and negative, to contribute to the improvement of the agency’s services.
Addressing road users, Oki stressed the need for compliance with the State Traffic Law to avoid legal consequences.
