LASTMA Denies Involvement After Tricyclist’s Suicide in Ikorodu

In a tragic incident in Ikorodu, Lagos State, a tricyclist reportedly took his own life after relentless efforts to retrieve his seized tricycle proved futile.

According to reports, the incident occurred at the Lastma office near Jubilee Estate along the Ikorodu-Sagamu Expressway.

Eyewitnesses stated that the unidentified man, desperate to reclaim his impounded tricycle from government agents, hanged himself from a tree in front of the compound early Thursday morning.

A note found with the video footage suggested that the suicide was a direct response to authorities’ refusal to release his tricycle.

Despite persistent efforts, the man was unable to retrieve his tricycle, leading to frustration and desperation.

However, LASTMA spokesperson Taofiq Adebayo vehemently denied any involvement of their officers in the seizure, stating, “We don’t know anything about the incident. LASTMA is not involved in anything of such, and we don’t know anything about the hanging of the dead body.”
