The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has praised one of its officers, Muibi Ademola, for displaying exceptional integrity and professionalism after he reportedly refused a ₦20,000 gratification offered by a motorist in Okota, Lagos.

According to publication by The Nation newspaper on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Officer Ademola, who operates under the call sign Bravo 27, was approached by a motorist at the Ago–Ibiwoye axis who called his attention to a developing traffic gridlock in the area. Ademola promptly responded and successfully restored free movement within a short period.

Impressed by the officer’s swift intervention, the motorist offered him ₦20,000 in appreciation. However, Ademola declined the offer, stating that he was only performing his lawful duty for which he is already compensated by the Lagos State Government.

Reacting to the development, LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, commended the officer’s conduct, describing it as an inspiring demonstration of discipline, integrity, and loyalty to the agency’s core values.

He noted that Ademola’s action has further strengthened public confidence in LASTMA’s renewed commitment to transparency, accountability, and service excellence under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Bakare-Oki added that the officer’s gesture aligns with the moral reorientation being promoted by the current management to restore dignity and public trust in traffic law enforcement across Lagos.

He urged other officers to emulate Ademola’s example by upholding honesty, fairness, and dedication in the discharge of their duties. He also reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding officers who demonstrate integrity and professionalism in their service to the state.

“The management will continue to invest in regular training, ethical reorientation, and capacity building to ensure all LASTMA officers maintain high standards of discipline, civility, and operational excellence,” Bakare-Oki said.

In his response, Officer Ademola expressed gratitude to the management for the continuous training and motivation provided to personnel. He also appreciated the Lagos State Government for equipping officers with standard uniforms and operational materials, which he said have improved morale and efficiency on the job.
