LASEMA successfully Recovers Burning Oil Tanker With Contents Intact

 

Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, (LASEMA) early Today averted yet another disaster when it extinguished fire of a burning oil Tanker loaded to capacity with 46,000 litres of fuel intact, at the Secretariat Bus stop, Alausa , beside the pedestrian bridge.

According to the Director- General, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osayintolu , the incident which received the Agency’s usual prompt response at 1:17am today, and the agency immediately took action after receiving the distress call, no injuries nor loss of life was recorded while the over two hour operation lasted in order to curtail the fire and stop a highly probable explosion.

While the LASEMA response Team successfully recoverd the gutted petrol oil tanker without any human loss , the feat was achieved without further loss of properties not damages, with the full content of 46,000 litres of fuel salvaged intact at the Secretariat Bus stop through deployment of it’s heavy duty equipment, the super metro support of men of the Lagos State fire services and stake holders.

Further, remains of the gutted oil tanker has been safely recovered off the road to avoid any secondary incident, while also restoring the road to normalcy for vehicular activities.

In the aforementioned incident, the affected oil tanker has been towed- off the road to a safe place nearby where the head of the affected tanker will be replaced by it’s owners, He concluded.
