Chelsea’s Caretaker Manager, Frank Lampard has recorded a defeat in his first game after the Blues lost 0-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday.
Recall that Lampard was appointed on Thursday to temporarily coach the English club following the dismissal of Graham Potter and the club expressed high hopes for his competency to move the team forward.
However, the Chelsea record goalscorer failed to provide an immediate lift for the club as Matheus Nunes, the Portugal midfielder, clinched a goal for the Wolves in the 32nd minute with a superb half-volley into the far corner from the edge of the box on the right and past Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Chelsea had only one shot on target in the first half and, while looking much livelier after the break, were unable to make their passing and possession count.
Much attention is now turned to how Lampard will lift the team at Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against holders Real Madrid.
