Lakunle Bushbar Debuts in Ikorodu as a Modern Hub for Bushmeat and Fresh Palmwine

A new cultural and culinary hotspot has opened its doors in Ikorodu area of Lagos State, offering residents and visitors a refreshing blend of traditional African flavours and a modern atmosphere of relaxation.

The newly launched Lakunle Bushbar, located at Oshota Bus Stop opposite MJ Hotel along Ijede Road, is fast gaining attention as a premier destination for bushmeat lovers and palmwine enthusiasts.

Designed with bamboo finishes and vibrant African-inspired décor, the bushmeat bar delivers a rustic yet contemporary feel. Its serene environment and music-friendly setting make it ideal for evening hangouts, casual gatherings, and weekend relaxation.

Speaking with BlackBox Nigeria about the inspiration behind the establishment, the founder and CEO, Rabiu Idris Olakunle, popularly known as R.I.O., said his goal was to promote African culture through hospitality.

“We want people to enjoy original African taste in a place that feels like home,” he noted. Born and raised in Ikorodu, Olakunle has been a strong advocate of cultural preservation and community-inspired entertainment.

In line with its motto, “Originality at its peak,” the bushmeat bar offers a variety of local delicacies including fresh palm wine, bushmeat, grilled turkey, chicken, Asun, snail, barbecue fish, and other traditional favourites. Beyond food, the venue also provides classic indoor games such as Ayo Olopon, draught, and ludo, enhancing the nostalgic African experience.

The management of Lakunle Bushbar revealed that themed nights, live music sessions, and curated entertainment will be regular features aimed at attracting a diverse range of guests. In addition to its permanent location, the bushmeat-inspired bar extends its services to outdoor events such as weddings, birthdays, exhibitions, corporate gatherings, and social hangouts.

Early visitors have praised its unique ambience and the authenticity of its offerings, describing it as a much-needed cultural addition to the fast-growing Ijede corridor.
