The lawmaker representing Ikeja State Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Folajimi Mohammed has failed to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to seek a third term in office.
Folajimi, who is the son of Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, was defeated at the APC State Assembly primary held in Lagos on Friday.
His contender, a former Legislative Leader of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area, Seyi Lawal won the election after polling 15 votes, while the incumbent managed to secure nine votes.
Announcing the results, the Electoral Committee Chairman, Comrade Ewuoso Olamide declared Lawal as the winner of the primary election.
This development means that Mohammed, who currently serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Mineral Resources, will bow out as a Lagos lawmaker after eight years.
