The Lead Visioner of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, Dr Abdul Azeez Olajide Adediran popularly known as Jandor, has emerged as the winner of the governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State.
It was gathered that Adeniran polled 679 votes out of the 709 accredited delegates, to defeat his only competitor, David Kolawola Vaughan who secured 20 votes with 10 void votes.
The primary election held at Haven Events Centre in the Ikeja of Lagos, on Wednesday.
The Chairman of electoral committee, Emmanuel Ogidi had earlier confirmed to newsmen that four aspirants have withdrawn from the race, leaving only Adediran and Vaughan to jostle for the ticket.
The four aspirants are Engineer Deji Doherty, Dr. Ade Dosunmu, Jimi Kamal, and Gbadebo Vivour Rhodes. The reason for their withdrawal was, however, not disclosed.
The victory means that Jandor, who joined the opposition party from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), will be the PDP flagbearer at the Lagos State gubernatorial elections in 2023.
Speaking after the declaration of the result, Adediran thanked other aspirants in the race, saying all of them are qualified to lead the state.
He further assured party members that he would use the ticket to unite the Lagos PDP, noting that he is going to carry the PDP flag with pride and ensure the opposition party produces the first independent governor of Lagos.
