Lagos Youths Respond to Rumors, Caution Faceless Groups Attacking Seyi Tinubu’s Reputation
Following the rumors of the Lagos youths rejecting the Owerri Coalition’s endorsement of Seyi Tinubu for governor in 2027, the Coalition of Lagos Indigenous Youths (CLIC) has issued a strong response, cautioning faceless individuals who have been spreading false claims about the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
CLIC clarified that the post circulating on social media, which criticized Seyi Tinubu and suggested he was unfit for Lagos politics, did not originate from their group.
The statement, which had been falsely attributed to CLIC, was condemned by the Coalition as a deliberate attempt to tarnish Tinubu’s reputation.
The Coalition firmly stated, “Our attention has been drawn to the recent endorsement of Seyi Tinubu for Lagos governor by a group known as Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) and the group is described as the umbrella body of all the youth groups drawn across the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria. The said Coalition sat in Owerri, Imo State and publicly issued the statement on endorsement.”
In their response, CLIC reaffirmed their support for Seyi Tinubu, making it clear that they would back him should he decide to run for governor in 2027. “Mr. Seyi Tinubu is a proud and industrious son of Lagos. We stand firmly in support of him and will back him should he express interest in running for the office of Governor of Lagos.”
They also addressed those behind the false claims, specifically naming Ibrahim Whyte, and warned them to stop impersonating their group. The statement read, “We strongly caution the faceless Ibrahim Whyte and his cohorts to cease blackmailing Mr. Seyi Tinubu while falsely impersonating our group.” The Coalition made it clear that if these defamatory actions continued, they would take legal action. “Should this act of defamation and impersonation persist, we will be compelled to take legal action.”
The Coalition also expressed their disbelief that such falsehoods could be spread in the current age, stating, “It is difficult to believe that in this age and time, some faceless group could desperately discredit the Trailblazer who at no point discussed political aspirations with any individual or group in such manner.” They emphasized that Seyi Tinubu is not only a Lagos indigene but also a dedicated advocate for the state’s youth, concluding, “Lagos is home and will remain home for Mr. Seyi Tinubu not just as an indigene but also as a critical player dedicated to helping young people.”
With this statement, CLIC has made it clear that they stand in full support of Seyi Tinubu and will continue to protect his reputation from those attempting to spread false narratives.
