Lagos youth commissioner, LSSC chairman, other dignitaries grace funeral prayer for Bolowotan’s mother

The Ikorodu Ultra-Modern Town Hall in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, on Thursday, played host to a number of dignitaries, as the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan held a 7-day Fidau prayer for his late mother.

Bolowotan’s mother, Alhaja Awawu Abeje Gafaar, also known as Iya Ijebu, passed on at the age of 94 last Friday. Her remains have since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

The Fidau prayer was conducted by clerics from Anwar-Islam Society of Nigeria, Igbogbo Division, who extolled the sterling qualities of the late mother of the Lagos Assembly aspirant and prayed for the repose of her soul.

The event had in attendance prominent personalities such as the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development in Lagos State, Mr. Segun Dawodu; the Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Sola Aiyepeku, among others.

Delivering his sermon, the Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division, Sheikh Alhaji Chief Imam Seifudeen Ayinla Ademoritan Olowooribi stated that Iya Ijebu lived a fulfilled life in total service to Almighty Allah and humanity, admonishing guests present to emulate her and reflect on their lives.

In their different tributes, family members and friends of the deceased described her as a caring woman who demonstrated rare motherly love to everyone around her.
