Youth groups in Lagos have jointly signed the petition seeking removal of Mr. Idris Aregbe, Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts and Culture to Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu, following his alleged usage of government influence to promote a Peter Obi’s supporter trade fair.

The outcry surged after Aregbe promote a business brand, Naija Brand Chick, owned by Nelly Agbogu, a staunch supporter of Peter Obi in collaboration with the state government.

An online petition raised and shared by a concerned youth, Bayo Bilisi is gaining traction as 496 people have signed at the time of writing this report.

The critics demand immediate suspension of the governor’s aide due to his alleged support for Nelly, a prominent critic of president Tinubu in 2022.

A flashback of her post on X shows in 2022 when she says, “Bola Ahmed Tinubu is physically and mentally unfit to be a presidential candidate…”

This resurfaced post has reignited political tension among pro-Tinubu youth groups, who argue that government officials should not align with or amplify individuals who have openly disparaged the president.

Critics claim Aregbe’s continued collaboration with Agbogu, under the Lagos Tourism Trade Fair banner, undermines the loyalty expected of appointees in the Tinubu-aligned administration.

As the petition gains momentum online, calls for clarity and accountability are mounting. The governor’s office is yet to issue an official statement.

With more signatures expected and social media buzzing, all eyes are on Governor Sanwo-Olu’s next move.
