In a significant move aimed at curbing noise pollution in Lagos State, authorities have made the tough decision to close the highly popular Silk Club located in the vibrant Ikoyi neighborhood.
On Saturday evening, Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, issued a succinct statement, pinpointing Silk Club as the target of the operation.
Situated at 190, Awolowo Road in Ikoyi, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) executed a late-night enforcement operation in strict compliance with the commissioner’s directives, resulting in the closure and sealing of Silk Club.
Commissioner Wahab took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the closure, stating, “In line with my directives, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency @LasepaOfficial conducted a nocturnal enforcement operation, leading to the closure and sealing of Silk Club at 190, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, due to noise pollution concerns.”
