Lagos State Shutdown Quilox, Farm City, Two Others For Contravening COVID19 Guidelines

 

 

Officers of the Lagos State Enviromental Task Force on Monday shutdown Quilox Pool and Bar for contravening the State’s Environmental Law on opening of recreation centres during the COVID19 pandemic.

BlackBox Nigeria gathered that also sealed up was the popular Farm City and Bien Mange, both in Lekki and alo Page One in Ajah. It was learnt that all facilities were operating as against the directives given by the State Government in order to curb and contain the spread of the dreaded coronavirus.

Talking after closing the facilities, General Manager of Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA),  Dr Dolapo Fasawe spoke to pressmen and disclosed that in addition to contravening to COVID19 directives, the facilities were operating within residential areas and have constituted nuisance and a threat to residents in the vicinity. She added that the agency acted on tip off by a whistleblower who alleged that activities around Farm City were flagrant disobedience of the State’s Environmental Laws as public smoking and noise pollution has taken over the area.

She said, “The agency acted on a tip from a whistleblower, alleging traffic congestion, flagrant disobedience of the environmental law as well as non-compliance of the COVID19 safety protocols. Upon arrival, the team noticed several infractions and identified same to the management of the facility, which led to clearing out the fun seekers and shutting down the facility pending the outcome of full investigation.”
