On Friday, the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) announced the closure of a building without toilet facilities in the Agege area, emphasizing its commitment to a sustainable environment.
Tokunbo Wahab, Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, stated on his official X page “LSWMO, in its ongoing commitment to ensuring a sustainable environment, proper sanitation, and public health safety in the state, has sealed off a residential property on Adedosu Street, Otubu, Agege.”
“This action follows a public complaint from concerned residents. The bungalow, containing over 10 rooms, lacked toilet facilities and had dilapidated pit latrines filled with exposed fecal matter,” he explained.
Wahab commended Adefemi Afolabi, General Manager of LSWMO, and the compliance team for their efforts, stressing that Lagos cannot afford another cholera outbreak.
He urged citizens to adopt proper sanitation and hygiene practices to promote public health and environmental sustainability.
