Lagos State Deserves A New Dimension In Governance – Sanwo-Olu Youth Volunteers

Having considered the state of development in Lagos State in the last one year particularly in the area of environmental renew, socio-political inclusiveness and innovative engagement of the resources accruing to the state, we youths in Lagos State under the banner of Sanwo-Olu Youth Volunteers (SYV) have decided to team up with the candidature of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to bring a new dimension to administration in Lagos State.

With representatives across the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), we are of a strong belief that being a consummate technocrat with experience spanning both private and public sector, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is the most deserving to fly the flag of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Lagos State Governorship Primary scheduled for tomorrow.

SYV is a convergence of youth volunteers who believe in the candidature of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the economic empowerment of youths and the involvement of young cerebral minds in the day to day governance of Lagos State. SYV believes Lagos State deserves a leader who can build bridges to engage with all stakeholders and present a creative governance approach to achieving the Lagos State of our dreams.

Who We Are Supporting

SANWO-OLU Babajide Olusola is widely regarded as a public sector expert in human resources and policy formulation, a power sector consultant per excellence, an astute banker, a compelling public speaker and an inspirational leader. Apart from a robust public sector service experience which spanned over ten years during which he was Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Planning (in acting capacity) and Honourable Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Lagos State, at different times.

With enviable background in the private sector and close to ten years of exemplary banking experience during which he contributed immensely to the growth and development of Lead Bank Plc, UBA, and First Atlantic Bank (now First City Monument Bank), Babajide was instrumental to the preparation and publication of the Lagos State Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (LASEEDS) and also formulated policies and programmes to improve the relationship between government and Organized Private Sector (OPS).

His meteoric rise within the system of the Lagos State government is particularly exemplary; a testament to his unique leadership abilities and exceptional contributions to good governance within the State. From being appointed in 2003, as Special Adviser on Corporate Matters to the Deputy Governor to raising to managing same portfolio with the Executive Governor, Babajide has proven himself to be a team player. A unique trait that allowed him to serve two Governors in different capacities in the state.

Babajide’s stirring team-playing ability was evident in the critical roles he played within the government in partnership with several units and offices. For instance, in conjunction with the Head of Service, he was responsible for timely review of salaries, wages and allowances while he also articulated the state government’s Conditions of Service. As a security awareness expert, he helped set up the Lagos State Security Trust Fund and subsequently became a board member for over four years. He was also the Chairman of the State Consulting board for four years.

He has distinguished himself as a boardroom guru and has since become a widely recognized force in both  private and public sectors, serving as Board member, Department for International Development, DFID/DEEPEN Fund; Member of the Board Audit Committee of Caverton Offshore Services Group, PLC and as Director, Light Level Nigeria Limited, the foremost digital signage company in Nigeria.

Between July 2011 and June 2016, he served as Chairman for a number of thriving organisations, including Baywatch Group Limited – a multifaceted company with interests in construction, property development and human capital development; First Class Group Limited, a cooling, power and maintenance solutions provider recognised widely for providing critical support for all major telecommunications company in the area of specialised cooling; Powercap Consulting, a leading power consulting boutique with vast experience in power privatization exercise; Beryl Shelter, an estate management firm that specializes in research, marketing intelligence and sales of high end properties.

In June 2016, Babajide was appointed Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation. Upon resumption he swung into action, making giant strides within a couple of months of his appointment. In line with the Private Public Partnership (PPP) model which is currently operational in Lagos State, the Corporation has commenced several joint venture construction projects in the Victoria Island/ Lekki axis of Lagos and is set to reduce the housing deficit in Lagos speedily by completing similar projects within the next few years. Some of these projects are Courtland Villa, Igbokusu Lekki while he recommenced work at the hitherto abandoned 108-unit Lekki Apartments.

He is happily married to Dr Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu and they are blessed with children.
