Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Lagos State Chapter, have expressed its displeasure over Kelechi Iheanacho’s disapproving attitude towards one of its members.
The Super Eagles striker reportedly shoved off Mr. Yinka Oyedele of Brila FM while the reporter was making attempt to interview the Leicester City player after the team’s training on Tuesday.
According to the press release issued and signed by the association’s Chairman, Debo Oshundun and Secretary, Bunni Ogunyale, Oyedele, a news maker and a professional in the practice doesn’t deserve such ill treatment from Iheanacho or any national team player. The association labelled Iheanacho’s act as embarrassing and disrespectful to a journalist.
Meanwhile, the association has called for the immediate intervention of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to call the player to order.
“While we urge the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to as a matter of fact of urgency call the player to order, it is also not out of place for the football house further educate the players on etiquette and relationship with the men of the fourth estate of realm and fans alike” the statement read.
The association, however, expressed its goodwill to the Super Eagles and Iheanacho, while wishing the player and the team best of luck in their reverse 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture against Central Africa Republic on Sunday.
