Lagos Speaker Mourns Pa Fasinro, Says State, Nigeria Will Miss His Wisdom, Knowledge, Experience

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa has described the death of elder Statesman, Pa Hassan Adisa Fasinro as a loss not only to Lagos State but also to the country as a whole.

“He was a national figure. The first Clerk of the oldest local government in Nigeria, the Lagos City Council and a Senator in the Second Republic hence his contributions to nation building are well documented. Lagos in particular and Nigeria as a whole will miss his wisdom, knowledge and experience,” the Lagos Assembly Speaker who is also the Chairman of Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, said in a condolence message released on his behalf on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Musbau Rasak.
Rt Hon Obasa described the death of Pa Fasinro as coming at a time the state and the nation need his nation-building experience and knowledge for the development and growth of the country’s democracy.

“The death is coming at a time his nation-building experience and knowledge are needed to aid the growth of our democracy but Almighty Allah has knowledge of everything and in His wisdom, He believes now is the right time to take Papa away,” he said.

The Lagos Assembly Speaker stated further that, “however, we take solace in the fact that Papa lived a good life and left legacies worthy of emulation by Nigerians.
“On behalf of my colleagues in the Lagos State House of Assembly, I express our condolence to the Fasinro family, the governments of Lagos State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
