Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and other Financial Institutions, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family and devoted fans of the late pop sensation, Mr. Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, who tragically passed away at the age of 27 on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
In a statement released by his media aide, Mr. Enitan Olukotun, Senator Abiru described Mohbad’s untimely demise as profoundly painful and devastating.
He called upon the relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Aloba’s tragic death, with an unwavering commitment to ensuring justice prevails.
The statement from Senator Abiru conveyed his sentiments, saying, “I extend my deepest condolences to the family and fans of the late Mr. Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, as well as the entire Nigerian youth.
“I am particularly saddened by the fact that Mohbad’s life was cut short just when he was poised to reap the rewards of his creativity and the hard work he invested in his flourishing music career.
“Mohbad’s journey was an inspiring one, breaking through socio-economic barriers rooted in his family background. He achieved international recognition in the fiercely competitive music industry with hit songs that resonated across cultures and nations.
“I stand united with concerned Nigerians, especially the bereaved family and the youth of Nigeria, in demanding a comprehensive inquiry by law enforcement agencies into the allegations of foul play. We must ensure that justice is served.
“Furthermore, I wish to inform Nigerians that I have raised this matter to the attention of the leadership of the Nigerian Senate. When the Senate reconvenes on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, I will formally present a motion calling for a rigorous investigation into the tragic passing of Mohbad.
“As the representative of Lagos East Senatorial District, which includes Ikorodu, the hometown of Mohbad’s family, I join in mourning the loss of our beloved son, brother, and friend. Mohbad’s legacy will endure. Farewell, The Legend!”
