Lagos Records Monkey Pox Case As Infected Patient Leaves Bayelsa

 

Report reaching BBN has it that two suspected cases of the dreaded Monkeypox have been recorded in Lagos State. This information was made known on Monday by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris.

Dr Idris made this known in a press briefing on Monday afternoon, in his words, he said,

Though the suspected cases are still under observation, there is need to sensitise members of the public and provide adequate information on measures for prevention and control of the disease in line with the policy of the State government”.

He stated that one of the suspects just came from Bayelsa State and reportedly ate bush meat. Dr Idris said the two suspected cases were currently being quarantined in their houses pending the result of the investigation.

He urged members of the public to be calm and also be vigilant and report any suspected case of the disease to the nearest public health facility or the Lagos State Ministry of Health or notify the government through the Disease Surveillance Officers in the 57 LGAs and LCDAs call this number 08037170614, 09087106072, if u suspect monkey pot
