Lagos politician, Dotun Lobito is dead

A Lagos-based politician, Dotun Olaribigbe is dead.

Olaribigbe, who was fondly called Dotun Lobito, was said to have breathed his last on Thursday. However, details about the cause of his death are still sketchy at the time of filing this report.

His demise was confirmed in a Facebook post by his friend, entertainment promoter Bolaji Basia.

“Rest well paddy mi Dotun Olaribigbe (Lobito),” Basia wrote.

The deceased, before his foray into politics, was a well-known socialite that rocked the streets of Lagos in the 90s. He was said to have been nicknamed ‘Lobito Disco’ by legendary Juju singer, Sir Shina Peters.

Olaribigbe was also the founder of Haridot Promotions based in the Surulere area of Lagos.

In 2017, he unsuccessfuly ran for the chairmanship seat of Surulere Local Government under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Lobito also contested for the Lagos West Senatorial seat in 2019 under the relatively unknown Liberation Movement Party.
