Lagos police destroy hard drugs worth N10m

The Lagos State Police Command, on Tuesday, in collaboration with other sister agencies destroyed some illicit drugs valued at ten million naira.

According to Vanguard newspapers, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Ahmed Kotangora led the team government agents to at a dumpsite in Ewu-Elepe, a suburb in the Ikorodu area of the state, where the destruction exercise took place.

NAN reported that the exercise was supervised by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, and task force on environmental offences.

The drugs which include four thousand wraps of different kinds of drugs varying from India hemp, cannabis, and Colorado amongst others, were discovered from suspected criminals by Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RSS).

Kotangora, who represented the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, disclosed that the illicit drugs were recovered within four months due to the diligent information by the RSS.

Noting that the exercise was in compliance with a court order, he said about three suspects were arrested in connection with the seizure.

He further warned members of the public to desist from involving in such criminal acts, saying “there’s no hiding place for any criminal, drug addicts, and offenders.”
