Founder of the Lagos Marathon, Bukola Olawale Olopade, has been appointed as the Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC) following the dissolution of the Ministry of Sports Development and the transfer of its functions to the NSC.
In a statement released on Thursday, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, noted that Olopade, the new Director-General of the National Sports Commission, is a sports administrator with many years of experience in the sector.
Known for his role in establishing the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon,Olopade will now be joining Shehu Dikko who was earlier named Chairman of the commission.
Alongside Olopade, Dr. Abisoye Fagade was appointed as the Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, while Dr. Adebowale Adedokun will serve as the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement. Additionally, Daniel Bwala was named Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications at the State House.
Beyond his new role at the NSC, Olopade is also leading as Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the upcoming National Sports Festival, scheduled to take place in Ogun State in January 2025.
