In a surprising development, the lawmaker representing Amuwo Odofin Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Alli-Macaulay has lost the primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
At the election held in Festac Town, Lagos, on Friday, Alli-Macaulay, popularly called ‘Mama Amuwo’ polled four votes while her main challenger, Folorunso Olaitan secured 12 votes to clinch the APC ticket.
Reacting to the victory, Olaitan thanked the delegates, party stakeholders and faithfuls for their support, assuring them of his commitment to a people-centered representation when he finally wins the main election in 2023.
It would be recalled that in the wake of the #EndSARS protests in October 2020, Alli-Macaulay had come under fire over her comments that most Nigerian youths on social media were always high on drugs.
The lawmaker was also accused of using palliative food items meant to cushion the sufferings caused by COVID-19 to celebrate her birthday. She, however, denied both claims.
