The Lagos State Government has perfected plans to embark on the rehabilitation/upgrading of Igbogbo-Baiyeku road in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.
The first phase of the project, which is set to commence in July, will cover Odofin Street to Igbogbo Baiyeku IIB Housing Estate.
The rehabilitation will be undertaken by the Lagos State Public Works Corporation for a duration of 22 months. It is also said to be the first major road project to be executed by the agency.
The deplorable state of the Igbogbo-Baiyeku road has been a major source of worry for residents of the area who grapple with increase in transportation fare, breakdown vehicles, streams of traffic, among other difficulties.
Sometime in 2021, residents had written a letter to Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to give the road a new facelift.
