The Lagos State Government has sealed off 26 bars, lounges, and restaurants in Lekki Phase 1 for persistent noise pollution and operating open bars in defiance of repeated warnings.

The enforcement exercise was carried out on Thursday by officials of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources through the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA).

According to the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the affected establishments were repeatedly cautioned but continued to disturb residents with excessive noise and environmental violations.

Among the sealed outlets are, Farm City, Kingfisher, D Code Exclusive Lounge, Light House Bar and Grill, Terraform Restaurant and Bar, Beer Barn, Bay Lounge, Bolivar, Savor Lounge, Sailors Lounge, Red Bar, Circa Lagos, The Mood Lagos, HQ Rooftop Lounge, Rango Rooftop Lounge, LIIT Social House, Native Tray, E Bar Metro, Medusa Lekki, Mabaya Lounge, The Corner, Switch 1922 Lounge and Grill, Bayrock, HOV, The Peacock Lagos, and Ivy Bar.

Wahab stressed that the government would not tolerate any form of environmental infraction, adding that prosecution of offenders would follow in line with the state’s environmental laws.

“The Lagos State Government will not condone actions that negatively affect the environment and wellbeing of residents. Those who break the law will face the consequences,” the commissioner said.

The move is part of the state government’s wider effort to regulate leisure businesses and ensure strict compliance with environmental standards, particularly in densely populated residential areas like Lekki Phase 1.
