The Lagos State Government has declared Wednesday, August 20, 2025, as a work-free day for all public servants in commemoration of this year’s Isese Day.

This was contained in a circular issued by the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, on August 18, 2025. According to the notice, the holiday is aimed at reaffirming the government’s commitment to promoting indigenous culture, tradition, and heritage, while also supporting traditional institutions across the state.

Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu approved the declaration, granting public servants the day off to mark the celebration.

The circular further stated that normal work will resume on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

Isese Day is dedicated to celebrating the culture, traditions, and spiritual practices of the Yoruba people, with various events usually held across Lagos and other southwestern states.

All Accounting Officers are enjoined to note the contents of the Circular and give it the deserved service-wide publicity.
