The management of Kano Pillars Football Club has announced the immediate suspension of the team’s Technical Adviser, Ogenyi Evans, and Chief Coach, Ahmed Garba, popularly known as Yaro Yaro, following what it described as an unsatisfactory performance in the ongoing 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The suspension, which was confirmed in a statement issued by the club’s Media and Communications Directorate, comes after the team’s poor run of form, which saw them record only two wins, two draws, and four defeats in eight league matches. The management said the decision was taken to reposition the team for better results.

The club also announced new interim technical handlers pending further directives. According to the statement, former club captain and assistant coach, Gambo Muhammad, will take over the technical responsibilities of the team, while goalkeeping coach, Suleiman Shuaibu, will assist him. Additionally, coach Garzali Muhammad from the Junior Pillars setup will join the interim crew in an ad-hoc capacity.

The decision followed increased pressure from fans and stakeholders after Kano Pillars suffered a 2–1 defeat at home to Barau FC at the Sani Abacha Stadium, a result that compounded their poor start to the campaign.

Kano Pillars, one of Nigeria’s football clubs, have been facing mounting challenges both on and off the pitch. Earlier in the season, the team was fined and sanctioned by the NPFL over crowd disturbances during a home fixture, which further heightened concerns about the club’s performance and management.
