Muslims in Kano state are to continue with the Eid-il-fitr celebration till Friday following the lastest directive from the governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Recall the federal government on Monday had declared Wednesday and Thursday as work-free days.
According to the Kano commissioner for information, Muhammad Garba, the state government has extended the holiday to Friday, saying “Wednesday which was part of the two-day holiday declared by the federal government fell within the 30 days of Ramadan period”.
“The Governor urged people in the state to use the occasion, particularly during Juma’at service, to pray for peace to continue to reign in the state and the country in general,” Garba said.
Similarly, the Jigawa state government has also announced Friday as a work-free day.
While congratulating Muslims on the celebration, the state head of civil service, Hussaini Kila, said “it is expected that all public servants and the entire people of the state will pray to Almighty Allah for continued protection and guidance of leaders, peace, economic prosperity of the state and Nigeria at large.”
