Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has ordered the immediate demolition of illegal structures that have been erected at Race Course and various public locations within the metropolis.
The governor’s directive was conveyed in a statement issued on Saturday by his Press Secretary, Malam Bature Dawakin-Tofa.
Yusuf has expressed the administration’s unwavering commitment to restoring the state’s former glory by reclaiming all encroached public land and properties that have been unlawfully occupied by private individuals or groups.
He emphasized that structures erected in schools, mosques, public playgrounds, graveyards, markets, and hospitals will be demolished to ensure strict adherence to urban planning regulations, enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area, and ensure the safety of the people.
“It is disheartening to witness the constant destruction and conversion of public spaces, which are intended for public use and the provision of social services, by unpatriotic citizens,” said Governor Yusuf.
“We are determined to put an end to land grabbing and the indiscriminate construction of illegal structures in the state,” he added.
